Ready Steady Grow! is a family partnership. We want to recreate a friendly, nurturing family atmosphere throughout our nursery for staff and children alike.

Dad Steve Wallace manages the administration of the business as well as being one of our chefs. Steve is a really enthusiatic cook, used to catering for large numbers of healthy appetites and has a level 2 certificate in Food Preparation & Hygiene. Steve will be known to some as Chairman of NHS Hartlepool, a part-time post he'll combine with his duties at the setting.
Prior to this he worked in management in the public and finance sectors and has extensive experience in sales, marketing and campaigning.

Daughter Helen is an experienced and highly-qualified childminder with long experience and consistently excellent Ofsted ratings. As the day-to-day manager of Ready Steady Grow! Helen is responsible for developing our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as well as ensuring the highest standards of both childcare and fun!

Daughter Caroline is an experienced Nursery Nurse with NVQ Level 3 qualifications in childcare. Caroline has experience of large 100-place-plus day nurseries (over twice the size of Ready Steady Grow!) and as well as bringing in the best aspects of other nurseries, she also knows the aspects to avoid to ensure we deliver a personal and individual service to each child - and their parents!

Mum Lynn works in the NHS as a Matron specialising in infection control. While she won't play a part in the day-to-day running of the nursery her expertise of how to avoid infections from tummy bugs to contagious diseases has been invaluable in designing both our hygiene policies and the layout of the nursery.

Why choose Ready Steady Grow?

Ready Steady Grow! is the perfect setting for your child.

First of course we don’t think your children are “little monsters” at all. But we do think each child should be happy and have fun while preparing for life at school.

It is a local family business set in its own secure grounds, with mature trees and bushes. The children’s vegetable patch will help supply our healthy menu.
Our single-storey nursery has rooms that are bright and airy, opening directly into our extensive gardens, with mature trees, shrubs and bushes for plenty of outdoor play and fresh air.
We are small enough that every staff member will know each child by name and every child can feel happy, cherished and secure.
Our nursery is directly opposite Eldon Grove School, set in the nicest part of the Burn Valley Gardens with its walkways, flowers and play areas, close to both Summerhill nature park and activity centre, and to the picturesque Family Wood.
But we also understand the needs and concerns of parents, and we promise to offer a flexible service to suit your needs as well as your child’s.
